Latino Family Literacy Night
Back in high school I used to help with a
lovely program in my town called Latino Family Literacy Night. We would
read bilingual books with parents and then encourage them to take them
home to read with their kids. Childcare was provided and everyone
brought delicious food to share. The parents loved it because they could
keep Spanish literacy in the home in addition to practicing/improving
their English. Ah, nice memories from H.S. I feel so different from where I was at when I was 17, but I also feel very similar to how I was at my very core. Anyways, these little half Mexican half
Colombian cutie pie sisters stole my heart every week when we would
finish with the parents and join for food.
