"25 sittin' on 25 mil"

Lately I have been thinking about how awful it is that celebrities make so much money.

It is also SO SILLY that other people who do meaningless and often socially destructive work make so much money.

I have been thinking lately about how so many people deserved to be recognized by society as a whole. Not just withing their little non-profit/political/community activist realm. These people should be famous!!! People who write books, kick start free skool projects, people who fight against GENOCIDE, who make lovely art, people who give women on skid row another chance, transpeople fighting for their rights, among other awesome things in the world.

Yesterday I had the lovely opportunity to meet Carlos Martinez, a young man who grew up in LA's San Fernando Valley and is of Salvadorean descent. He edited/co-authored a really great book called "Venezuela Speaks!", which is basically a series of interviews with various Venezuelan citizens who are all part of the Bolivarian process in some way. Women's issues, community organizing, indigenous/afro-Venezuelan issues, media, and housing are a few of the topics covered. Meeting with Carlos solidified some primordial thoughts I have developed about fame recently. It really made me realize that I want to focus on honoring people for work they do, and projects that they invest a lot of time and energy in, often times for very little monetary exchange and recognition from larger society. This person worked on this book because he was inspired by work people were doing in Venezuela and he wanted to share that with people [mostly from] the States.

Anyways, I had a great time meeting him.

Side note: This is not to say that Drake isn't dope. Drake is dope. I don't care how dope you are, though, no 25 year old rapper deserves 25 mil. Also, I am sure Drake gives plenty to charity and bla bla bla...what is he doing for the people who work their ASSES off their whole life to earn 25k a year? Probably NOTHING!!!!#$!@#$!@#$@#
